Rosemont Copper Company (Rosemont) has authorized WestLand Resources, Inc. (WestLand) to conduct a variety of baseline biological studies within the Rosemont Holdings. Pursuant to that effort, WestLand has conducted surveys of the Rosemont Holdings and their vicinity for ranids, particularly the Chiricahua leopard frog (Rana [Lithobates] chiricahuensis), which is listed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, and the lowland leopard frog (Rana [Lithobates] yavapaiensis), which is considered a sensitive species by Coronado National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management.
